The Sylvia Hotel is looking for an engaging, enthusiastic Food and Beverage Manager to join our team. The Food and Beverage Manager is responsible for all aspects of the food and beverage operations. The role will provide excellent leadership and be responsible for financial, operational, guest and HR objectives. The Food & Beverage Manager will develop and execute strategic, operational and policy initiatives to enhance the financial contribution and effectiveness of the front of house operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Food and Beverage front of house operations and provide assistance where required
  • Provide leadership, development plans and coaching
  • Work closely with all department managers
  • Provide operational leadership and decision making on technical and incident related issues
  • Maintain a thorough and updated knowledge of company policies and procedures
  • Manage hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, and motivating and coaching employees
  • Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards
  • Identify, recommend, develop, and implement new ways to increase organizational efficiency, productivity, and cost-savings
  • Coordinate with the Exec. Chef for the preparation, presentation and service of Food and Beverage products to ensure highest quality at all times
  • Oversee the function of all Food and Beverage team members, facilities, sales and costs to ensure maximum departmental profit is achieved
  • Maintain a safe working environment in all sections of the Restaurant and Lounge

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years management experience in a large scale Food and Beverage operation
  • Excellent verbal communication & interpersonal skills
  • Squirrel POS, Open Table experience an asset
  • Must have excellent presentation and be guest focused
  • Ability to adapt to the days circumstances
  • Fluency in written and oral communication in English
  • Able to implement operational change
  • Proven costing and pricing techniques
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks
  • Must be available to work a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays
